CROATIA - KVARNER BAY

 

 

Day one:LJUBLJANA: Check in hotel. Dinner. Overnight. 

Day two: LJUBLJANA:  Breakfast. Welcome to Ljubljana a city of culture and rich historical legacy. Ljubljana offers all the friendliness of a small town and at the same time everything a capital should offer. Here, eastern and western cultures met; and the Italian concept of art combined with the sculptural aesthetics of Central European cathedrals. The city owes its present appearance partly to Italian baroque and partly to Art Nouveau, which is the style of the numerous buildings erected immediately after the earthquake of 1895. Walking tour with a local tourist guide: Cathedral of St. Nicholas, Bishop Palace, Dragon Bridge, Preernov Trg, Triple Bridge, Old Town. Bus ride to Opatija. Check in hotel. Dinner. Overnight

Day three: RIJEKA - OPATIJA: Breakfast.  Bus tour to Rijeka, a visit to the biblical town of Trsat, where meny pilgrims, including the Pope, have visited. Walking tour in Opatija. Situated below the mountain and Nature Park Učka, Opatija (old name: Abbazia) is a great choice for a vacation in summer and winter season. Beautiful nature, parks, old Austrian villas, seaside promenade and beaches attract tourists from Europe and all over the world for more then 160 years. Free individual time in the afternoon. Dinner.

 

Day four: ISTRA TOUR:   Breakfast. All day bus trip. Istria will attract you not only by its coast but also by the lovely and varied inland area. Join our tour to see Red, Grey and White Istria and enjoy the beauty of its green hills and numerous vineyards. Istria is also abundant in historical and cultural monuments. You will see medieval towns encircled by ramparts, situated on picturesque hilltops. We will visit the towns of  Poreč, Rovinj and Pula. Walkin tour : Amphitheater, Triumphal Arch of the Sergi – Golden Gate, Temple of August, Communal Palace, Forum... Back to Opatija. Dinner. Overnight.

 

Day five: NATIONAL PARK PLITVICE LAKES : Breakfast. Bus ride to the NP Plitvice Lakes, which opened in 1949 and are protected by UNESCO since 1979. That is a specific geological and hydrogeological phenomenon of karst. The series of 16 bigger and a few smaller lakes, gradually lined up, separated by travertine barriers for which the period of the last ten thousand years was crucial, and which were ruled by ecological relations similar to those of today - suitable for travertine depositing and for the origin of the lakes - are the basic phenomena of the National Park. Bus ride to Zagreb. Check in hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

        

Day six: ZAGREB  Breakfast. Welcome to Zagreb, capital of the Republic of Croatia! Zagreb is an old Central European city. Zagreb offers its guests the Baroque feel of the Upper town, picturesque open-air markets, various kinds of shops and delicious local cuisine. Walking tour with a local tourist  guide: old town Kaptol and Gradec, the Zagreb Cathedral, St Mark’s Church, the Lotrščak Tower, Town Hall, Mirogoj. Dinner.

 

Day seven: ZAGREB  Breakfast. Bus transportation to the Zagreb airport.
